Masters squash is aimed at players aged over 35 years; it has a great mix
of social and competitive matches with various competitions run over the course
of the year.
FRIDAY
NIGHT MASTERS
Friday night is Masters night! This year we have introduced a new
concept, and we are running two leagues per season (autumn/winter and
Spring/summer); everyone is graded and
at the end of the first 7-week round, the
top two players advance to the higher grade and the bottom two players are relegated
to the lower grade. So during each of our two seasons, there are two separate
leagues which provide the distinct advantage of guaranteeing every player to have
a good mixture of opponents and minimising the possibility of playing the same
opponent more than twice in each season.
Friday
Night Masters squash is held at Blue Gum Squash Centre, and is fun and
social
Players
are placed in mixed grades with opponents of similar ranking
Modified
scoring system: currently under revue. At time of report we are using a
PAR-11, best of 5 games format
Supper
is provided each week, along with a weekly raffle
Two
seasons of 16 weeks each: February – June, and July – November. There is a
4 week break between the seasons during which the State Championships will
be held

WAMS
TURNS 30 IN 2010
“Mature Age” squash was first commenced in 1980 with a ladies-only
concept. The men quickly joined their ranks to form “Masters Squash” as we know
it. WAMS developed amazingly over the following 3 decades with its greatest
numbers in the late‘90s and early 00s, and this year we celebrate the WAMS 30th
anniversary with a gala dinner dance at Royal Perth Golf Club on Saturday 10th
July. This is a not-to-be-missed social event with tickets available for sale
in June, so please save the date and buy your tickets early to share in our
night of nostalgia and celebration.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Other social events are planned
during the year.
